Good evening,
I'm delighted to hear that the School Games Officers at Bay House and Brune Park have now written to the Gosport junior school's PE Leads and asked them to enter a team into the Year 5 and 6 hockey competition being held on Tues 7 Feb 23.
This also means that new children will be signposted to the Club to learn some new skills or hone the ones they've already learnt from us or other grassroot clubs in the area.
This is a perfect opportunity for students within the GFM (and from other schools with their permission) to assist the SGOs, PE Leads and the Club in coaching individual schools by adoption, helping to organise the day and officiating on the day.
It's also our chance to showcase our super skilled children within the Club and show the GFM and other schools in the area just how many of their children play hockey and we might just might get hockey back into the curriculum.
If your child would like to help out please ask them to speak to their PE teachers or SGOs Gemma Beames or Ben White and let's get hockey party ready for February.
In the meantime if they'd like to pick up a whistle then I recommend this learning aid (you'll need an account for the EH hockey hub but once you're in there it's got so much information to make you a more rounded player) to start their journey.
Have fun and please share your certificates with me if you'd like me to tell the world and the GFM you're umpire ready!
Donna
